Early Pliocene Arvicolinae and Cricetinae from the locality of Af?ar, western Turkey

The Af?ar section, situated in the Dombayova graben western Turkey, is one of key localities for study Pliocene Anatolia. Two fossiliferous layers yielded micromammal assemblages, including various cricetine and arvicoline species. These include species Mimomys cf. gracilis, Pliomys sp., Arvicolinae gen. sp. cricetines Cricetulus ehiki 1 hassiacus, M. graecus Mesocricetus primitivus 2. cooccurence these indicates a dry open spaced habitat. Based on composition stage evolution hamster vole species, assemblage can be referred to MN 15 or early 16 with 2 being assigned 16.
